All Purpose Ventilator 1015APV

Professional-grade Solar Powered All Purpose Ventilator ventilates up to 1,900 square feet.

Solar Attic Fan for Gable Vents and CrawlspacesRequires no cutting of your roof or tiles! The All Purpose Ventilator from U.S. Sunlight is a versatile, easy to install solution for Spanish tile, concrete or metal roof homes.

Its simple design allows you to get more air circulation from your gable, static, or crawlspace vents. The All Purpose Ventilator keeps your attic space cooler in the summer and removes harmful moisture in the winter. It can also keep your crawlspace drier by increasing the air circulation under the house.

One fan can ventilate up to 1,900 sq. ft. and can be installed in most situations by the homeowner. The solar panel provides plenty of power for the motor to run without using any electricity.

Solar Attic Fans Cool Your Home in the Summer Cool your home in the summer

During the peak summer months, your attic’s temperature can rise to 160° or more. This heat build-up can then raise the temperature inside your home and increase the amount of electricity used by air conditioners and other cooling equipment.

43% of air conditioning design load is predicated on attic heat build-up. Maintaining moderate attic temperatures can extend roof life up to 10%. Combined with 30% federal tax credit and many local utility and municipality rebates, return on investment can be up to less than a year of use.

Installing a Solar Powered Attic Fan will help remove the heat build-up in your attic and bring your attic’s temperature down closer to the ambient outside temperature.

The reduction in attic temperature will also benefit the homeowner by preserving and extending the life of the roofing and attic construction materials. Additionally, hot air in your attic can then heat the metal exterior of your HVAC ductwork and consequently heat the air passing through it, causing your air conditioner to work even harder.

Solar Attic Fan Prevents Mold and Milder in the Winter Remove damaging moisture

During the winter months, warm moist air from inside your home rises into the attic and collides with the colder underside of the roof. The moist air condenses and promotes mold and mildew. If you live in an area that has snow, the warmer attic air will heat the roof and melt the snow which drips to the eaves where it can refreeze as ice and form ice-dams above the eaves. These ice-dams will cause water to work back up under the shingles into the attic and down to the ceiling.

28 gallons of moisture can be absorbed in roofing materials throughout the winter months and released in the spring, frequently causing mold and mildew problems in the attic space.

Installing a Solar Powered Attic Fan will allow for better air flow and moisture control inside your attic and prevent the condensation which can lead to mold and mildew problems.

Easily installs in most gable vents.

Panel can be mounted to the *fascia, on the exterior wall, or to the roof shingles.
*Fascia Mounting Brackets sold separately

Turbocharge existing dormer vents, eyebrow vents, and turbines.

Increase the efficiency of your existing passive ventilation system without cutting new openings.

Intelligently simple attic ventilation

With the addition of the optional Solar Controller with Dual Mode Technology your Solar Powered Attic Fan will now have the ability to run after sunset, or when there is inadequate light available from the sun.

When there is no sunlight available to power the fan and the Solar Controller has the optional house power connection enabled, the Solar Controller will cycle house electricity for 8 minutes every half-hour in order to power the fan. This will allow your attic temperature to continue to drop after sunset and help remove the hot, stagnant air that can buildup on those warm summer evenings.

The Solar Controller also includes temperature and humidity sensors which enable the fan to intelligently run at the most optimal times to reduce attic temperature and moisture. It also helps prolong the life of your fan by shutting off the motor when conditions are stable and attic ventilation is not necessary.

Why is attic ventilation important?

Heat and moisture are hard on roof shingles and roof sheathing.  In the hot summer months, a poorly ventilated attic will dramatically reduce shingle life and may even void the shingle warranty.  In the colder winter months, moisture from everyday activities inside the house can enter the attic.  Without proper ventilation, this moisture promotes mold and mildew, saturates insulation, and can freeze on the underside of the sheathing.

In the summer, heat from the attic can radiate down into your living area making the air conditioner work harder to cool your home.

Why is crawlspace ventilation important?

A crawl space with poor ventilation can harbor moisture which could lead to mold and mildew buildup. Installing an All Purpose Ventilator in the crawlspace, will increase air circulation, reduce moisture, and inhibit mold and mildew growth.

Does the All Purpose Ventilator only work in the attic?

While the All Purpose Ventilator is the perfect attic ventilation solution for homes with Spanish tile, Flat tile or metal roofs, it can also be used in crawlspaces to help remove moisture and reduce mold and mildew. You can use it in garages, sheds, green houses, or anywhere you need to turbocharge and an existing static vent.

What are the cost benefits of installing a solar attic fan?

How much money you will save is greatly dependent on the price of electricity in your area, the amount of attic space in your home, the efficiency of your attic insulation, the amount of tax credit and rebates available in your area and the amount of ventilation your solar attic vent is able to provide.  In our experience, a typical installation will usually pay for itself within 1-3 summers of use verses  powered Attic Fans that can cost up to $35 per month to operate.

Will the U.S. Sunlight Solar Controller work with my All Purpose Ventilator?

Does my roof already have ventilation?

Static vents or ridge vents will help but generally do not provide sufficient air movement to pull heat and moisture from the attic – especially during the winter or when the ambient air is stagnate. If you have electric fans in the attic, you will benefit from increased air movement in the summer but at a cost of 350 to 400 watts of power per day!

Often, electric attic fans have a thermostat that keeps them inoperable during the winter, just when you need them to expel moisture! A solar powered attic fan runs whenever there is sunlight – and, at no cost of operation.

Is a solar powered attic fan difficult to install?

The Solar Powered Attic Fan is extremely easy to install. A homeowner can install one in less than an hour and a professional in less than 30 minutes. An installation video is available on our website and you can receive additional help by calling 866-446-0966. Only basic tools are required and there is no electrical wiring to connect.

We would be glad to refer you to an installer in your area if one is available. If there is not one available we would suggest you call a local handyman or roofing contractor. Your retailer does not provide the installation and does not make any arrangements with any installers, so it is best to call US Sunlight at 866-446-0966 to find out what options for installation services you might have available in your area.

in your area.

Are tax credits available for installing a solar powered attic fan?

Absolutely.  The fan qualifies for up to a 30% Federal tax credit.  There may be additional energy rebates or tax credits available through your local utility. You can obtain an IRS form 5695 through the internet or visit our Tax Credit Info page on our website, download the form and learn about other possible rebates that may apply.

My current electric fan is noisy and can be heard from inside the home. Is the solar attic fan noisy?

The solar powered attic fan is extremely quiet. The solar cell provides power to a super-quiet DC motor.  There is no harmonic hum that is common with AC motors.

What is the life expectancy of the solar panel?

The Solar Powered Attic Fan has the latest state-of-the-art solar panel designed to last for more than 20 years.  While a standard solar panel can last 5 years or less, our solar panel has a 20 year prorated warranty – the longest warranty in the industry!

Are there differences in the solar powered attic fans available in the market?

Yes!  It is possible to find several brands and models with different prices and features.  But our Solar Powered Attic Fan has some of the best technology available at the best price, to assure that you have a fan that will last for years to come.

Our Solar Powered Attic Fan includes a commercial grade, hail resistant solar panel with a unique tilt-swivel design.  By maximizing the solar panel’s orientation to the sun you can gain up to 25% more power.
